Nichols Poultry (acquired 2016)

Nichols Poultry was founded in 1988 by the Nichols family to be a leader in the industry for quality, sustainability, and animal welfare. We continue this tradition today with leading practices in air chilled chicken, onsite wind power generation and our high welfare standard Nichols Ethical Free Range Chicken.

Pyengana Dairy (acquired 2017)

The farmers of Pyengana, Tasmania have been creating some of Australia’s finest artisan farmhouse cheese for over 130 years. Today at Pyengana Dairy, we are the custodian of the traditional recipe, unique to the Pyengana valley, for handcrafting this beautiful cheese that is adored by chefs and cheese judges, winning an abundance of awards across Australia.

TasFoods was established in 2015 to represent Tasmanian brands that harness the island state’s natural advantages for producing food and beverage products that meet evolving consumer needs. Our aim is to deliver the essence of Tasmania to the table.

To support us in delivering the essence of Tasmania to the table there are 4 core pillars to our strategy:

1. Brand Portfolio

We have assembled a portfolio of brands that reflect the diverse range of consumer values and needs. This includes super premium brands with a focus on artisan craftsmanship and single source provenance, everyday luxury brands that provide a little indulgence into everyday life and core everyday brands with locally produced products that support local farmers.

2. Omnichannel Approach to Sales

We recognise that consumer behaviors continues to evolve and we want people to be able to experience our products where they choose to shop and eat. We partner with a diverse range of customers including major and specialty food retailers, cafés, restaurants, distributors and food manufacturers as well as offer direct sales through our online store and Pyengana Farmgate Café. This ensures that we provide a wide range of options for people to find our products.

Our product range reflects a Tasmanian lens to consumer demand and emerging trends. We are committed to producing innovative products that continue to meet evolving customer needs. Our product range includes award- winning and indulgent foods, conveniently packed and ready to cook products, as well as functional foods for better well being.

We invest in systems and resources to support our people to thrive and deliver business growth in focus areas. We have dedicated centres of excellence where our committed team skillfully produce the TasFoods range. We continue to explore ways to improve our own manufacturing capabilities as well as work with other producers and service to providers to help us to capture and deliver the essence of Tasmania.

Board of Directors

JOHN MURPHY

ACTING CHAIR & NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

John has over 35 years’ experience in the Australian and International Beverage, Food, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Packaging Industries.

He has held a range of leadership roles in large multinational organisations including Managing Director of Coca-Cola Amatil Australia; the CEO of Visy Industries paper, packaging and recycling business; and the Managing Director of Carlton & United Breweries Australian beer business after an extensive career with the company.

John has served on the boards of both public and private companies and is currently the Chairman of Tribe Breweries (craft beverages) and a start-up founder of the Turner Stillhouse craft distillery in Tasmania.

John has previously served as Deputy Chairman of Bellamy’s Organic, Non Executive Chairman of PFD Foods Australia and Chairman of the Lantern Hotel Group.  He has also had a long association with the Alannah & Madeline Foundation focused on keeping children safe today and into the future.


BEN SWAIN 

NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Ben is a partner of Tasmanian law firm Murdoch Clarke. His practice areas include corporate advice, transactional mergers and acquisitions, real property and private client matters. Ben is a director of various Pty Ltd companies and trusts including the Elsie Cameron Foundation which has investment in entities including TasFoods Limited. With a passion for Tasmania’s finest foods and produce and the companies that grow and produce them, Ben gets great fulfilment from assisting, in his professional capacity, various Tasmanian food and agriculture business to achieve their goals. He was appointed to the Board as a Non-Executive Director on 4 June 2020.


JOHN O’HARA

NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

John is a highly accomplished Executive and Non-Executive Director with a track record of substantive contribution to strategic development and growth, cultural reform, value creation, building reputation and stakeholder relationships.

John’s Director experience spans across large private entities, corporations, and Not For Profit.  His executive roles have encompassed ASX organisations, Co-Operatives and large private companies with national and international operations. 

John spent the last 18 years with Sunny Queen Australia, the last 8 as CEO & Managing Director.  Prior to that he has held roles in both Dairy Farmers Cooperative and National Foods.  He is currently the Advisory Board Chairman for Morgan’s Pastoral Company and Priestley’s Gourmet Delights.

JOSHUA FLETCHER

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Joshua has broad finance and governance experience, gained over his career in the dairy industry from farmgate to manufacturing and commercial operation. He was the Finance Director at Maeil Australia (Maeil Dairies Co) and was responsible for all finance and governance related matters. He was also hands on with the implementation of the ERP system for the company. 

Prior to Maeil Australia, Joshua was the Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary of Organic Dairy Farmers of Australia Co-operative and its subsidiaries until 2019. He was also Head of Commercial Finance and Head of Finance at Murray Goulburn Co-operative. Joshua was the original financial controller of Tasmanian Dairy Products Co Limited, owned by Murray Goulburn, Mitsubishi Corporation and the Tasmanian founding shareholder, who built an $80m milk powder facility in North West Tasmania.  

Joshua is a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ). In addition, he holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting (University of Tasmania). He has previously been a member of the CA ANZ Regional and Rural Advisory Committee.


Leanne Pritchard

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Leanne has broad finance experience across a range of industries including FMCG, food manufacturing, IT, financial services and audit. Leanne was previously the Financial Controller at TasFoods Limited. Prior to that was the Group Financial Controller at Genobile Saba Australia where she was responsible for all areas of finance, treasury, governance and HR.

Leanne has also held positions with Cxense AS, a SAAS company based in Norway, National Australia Bank and 8 years with Deloitte Audit and Advisory, specialising in insurance, superannuation and managed funds.

As a member of the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), Leanne also holds a Masters in Applied Commerce (Accounting) from The University of Melbourne.
